Hello, my friends!

I’m S. S. Coulter, and I’m here to inspire fun, imagination, and joy!

In today’s society, it’s hard to compete with all the junk coming at us from technology and various other in-your-face sources. It’s hard to stay off screens!

Through my books series, podcast, and coaching, I want to inspire kids and adults alike to break free from the chains of our tech-heavy world into a place where we look into each other’s eyes and smile again.

I’m especially passionate about helping parents inspire kids to play like we used to play - because it’s a big key to joy and peace.

That’s how The Planet Fassa came to life - as a means to get kids offline and enjoying themselves; to spark their imagination and see where it takes them. In my experience, once you show kids the beauty of their own creativity, they’ll play for hours just like we used to!

As adults, it's our responsibility to take care of the next generation, but we also have to take care of ourselves. That’s why I host The Joy of Living podcast and coach adults to Break the Chain from tech overuse - because if we want kids to rediscover real life, we need to rediscover it too.

I’m so excited to lock arms and move forward together from a tech-heavy world into a play-based one where we interact more and have a lot more fun.

The Why - A Message to Parents

You Don’t Have to Be the Imagination Station

We know the struggle - convincing kids to get off screens can feel like a full-time job.

You already wear a hundred hats. “Chief Entertainment Officer” shouldn’t have to be another one.

We know you want your kids to have a joy-filled, play-filled childhood that builds character and confidence - but the pull of tech makes that harder than ever. And to compete with it? You often have to come up with all the ideas … or be the entertainment yourself.

We also know you need time to recharge, but that break often comes with guilt or worry about what your kids are doing online - and what it’s doing to them.

That’s where we come in.

Our stories and activities give your kids fun, screen-lite ways to play, imagine, and grow - without needing you to plan every moment. These aren’t more things for you to do. They’re tools to support the kind of childhood you want for your kids… and the kind of peace you deserve too.

Let’s make play easier again!

Some Questions You May Have

  • It’s simple! The kids read the story, fall in love with the characters, see the characters succeed, and then do the story activities, which mirror what the characters did and teach what they learned. Before you know it, your kids are having an awesome time playing off screen and using their imagination. Once that starts, there is NO stopping a kid’s creativity. Love it!

  • Fassa is pronounced “faa. suh.” It stands for Fun-Activities-Stories-Service-Awards. The main character of The Fassa Tails is based off of one of my main squeezes, my cat Mufasa. He was one of a kind; just how I hope this series is!

  • After sharing my series with multiple parents, homeschoolers, teachers, and even school principals – the consensus was that while the sweet spot is ages 6-8, it really depends on the child. I’ve had 4-year olds who loved to sit and listen to the stories and 12-year-olds who loved to read them. So I ask that you try it with your family, and see how it goes. Parents/teachers can tailor the activities to their children – you know them best!

  • When I was researching kids’ books, I found that many didn’t challenge our kids. I know the words I use are “big” and will require many children to ask for help in pronouncing them and understanding them. That’s the point. I want kids to get comfortable with challenge, learn to ask for help, see how beneficial it is to listen to and learn from others, and experience how cool it is to expand their knowledge. Being willing to constantly learn and humble yourself to ask for help is truly a key to a successful life.

  • The app is designed to help parents inspire real-world, imaginative play in their kids. Through the app, parents have at-your-fingertip access to 100s of easy activities marked with mind, heart, and/or body points that kids cash in for rewards parents set. It is a fun way to give your kids the rewards you'd give them anyway - but inspiring kids to play to earn them!

  • The characters are all animals my husband and I have loved throughout our lives. We sat with each other and discussed the joy they brought to us…and then came up with how we thought they would talk, what their hobbies would be, their favorite colors, their likes and dislikes – you name it! It was a blast, and I’m so happy to honor their adorable memories in these stories.

  • "Break the Chain" is for anyone 18 years and older. If you want to reclaim your time and start knocking things off not only your "to do" but "WANT to do" list, join us and break free!

Some Questions You May Have About Me

  • I was born and raised in the Chicago area and now live in Carmel, IN with my husband and the star of Book 7, Miss Loki!

I started my career as a Communications Consultant and Wellness Advocate, using writing campaigns to help adults change their lives for the better through healthy choices. I absolutely loved seeing people turn their lives around.

And then I met my beloved step kids. When they were young, I told them to “go out and play,” and they came back inside 5 minutes later not knowing what to do. After extensive research, I discovered kids everywhere do not “know” how to play – too much pressure to be perfect, too much technology streaming at them, too much on their plates, and too much stress. They are missing out on what it means to be a kid!

That’s when I left Corporate America to use my writing skills and wellness campaign background to give the gift of life’s simple pleasures back to our kids (and our families) through reading, playing, and good ole’ family connection.

So came The Planet Fassa - and all the characters, stories, activities, and fun that go with it! The goal is to give our kids joy and peace in their mind, heart, and body, so they can then spread joy and peace to others.

Yes, there are some cool cartoons out there and playing video games can be fun, but I’d like kids to realize that they have episode upon episode of cartoons and games inside their own head and heart. If we don’t develop our kids’ imagination (which requires ”imaginative or FREE play”), who will be here to develop the next Scooby Do, iPhone, or Star Wars?

I believe it is our responsibility as adults to make sure our kids experience the privilege of playing outside, making up their own games, and learning how to have fun with what’s on the inside of them.

And to help the grown-ups too? I created The Joy of Living podcast - a feel-good show where I interview authors, wellness experts, ministers, and others who share fresh ways to bring more joy into your life. I also offer Break the Chain, lighthearted, research-backed coaching to help adults reclaim time, reduce screen overwhelm, and rediscover the fun, creative spark within. Because when adults come back to life, kids do too.

And what about my beautiful step kids that inspired all this?
My husband and I used The Planet Fassa method with them, and I am so happy to report that they did, indeed, learn how to play and are now taking on the world as kind, joyful adults with amazing imaginations!
