The Fassa Tails

The Fassa Tails is a wonderful children’s book series about the journeys of a spunky, adventurous cat and the furry friends he meets along the way. As an educator for nearly 20 years, I have read countless children’s books. This is by far one of the most unique series I have come across in a long time. Each book in the series contains important life lessons, plot twists, and endless activities that will keep your student, or child, engaged for hours.

My 2nd Grade teachers LOVE these books, and their students love them even more! They beg their teachers to read them every day! So, now my Kindergarten and 1st Grade teachers are passing the first books in the series around and patiently waiting to get their hands on the others! So, I would say they are a BIG hit here! Mrs. Scruggs, 2nd Grade Teacher, said, “My class loved them! They wanted to read them every free minute we had! I really liked the lesson that was included as well. It worked well with some of the topics that arose in class.” As a mom, I really liked reading them to my 1st Grader. She heard them in her class too, but we were able to dive deeper into conversation about the topics at home. I would recommend these books to anyone, but mostly to primary aged kiddos.

These are more than books! They give challenges and opportunities for more learning…in ways kids may not realize! I love the follow-up activities that engage all kinds of learning and cognitive skills. The plot twists and activities use logic and reasoning, problem solving skills, and critical and abstract thinking. The activities also use communication skills, learning and seeking information, and emotional intelligence. I love the vocab challenges too. As a homeschooler, I can see families doing this as a reading unit or as a fun summer continued learning project!

As a kid who grew up reading “choose your own adventure” books, I wondered what happened to them when I became a mom and a teacher. Finding fiction books that helped teach values was also rare. When I was introduced to this collection, I could not have been happier to see an ALL IN ONE book! Adventures, values, comprehension questions, educational activities, and online resources! These books can be read solo or as a series. It is the purrrrr-fect combination!

My students and I loved this series. If you are looking for a series to teach a lesson or for your SEL library, this is a good option. It includes activities, coloring pages, enriching vocabulary. My students loved the characters and the cliffhanger at the end of each book.

The author has also set up a fun and innovative website that contains even more activities for kids to continue to enjoy. As a Preschool teacher, I love the bright illustrations and action in the stories that will keep children interested and wanting to learn more about this fun-loving cat!

Following the story, there are many activities making this the “purrrr-fect” book for travel. The activities are a great resource for parents looking to provide some thought-provoking yet fun activities and lessons for their child.

I used the books as a read aloud to my first grade class of 21 first graders, and they held their attention! My students enjoyed the artwork and would ask when we were going to read the books again. The lessons in each book are clear and well presented. The author did a great job on this product!
